Principal's Message

Welcome to Ochoa Middle School!

Dear Ochoa Students, Parents, and Guardians,

It is my pleasure to officially welcome you to the 2025–2026 school year at Ellen Ochoa Middle School. My name is Brian Leavitt, and I am honored to now serve as Principal of this incredible school community.

After having the privilege of working alongside our students, staff, and families last year, I’m excited to continue building strong relationships and leading a school that is deeply committed to excellence.

At Ochoa, we strive to provide a safe, inclusive, and academically challenging environment where every student can thrive. Our educators collaborate in Professional Learning Communities to deliver engaging, grade-level instruction while also attending to the social and emotional needs of our students.

We’re also fortunate to have an experienced and compassionate counseling team dedicated to supporting students in both their academic growth and personal development.

This year, one of our key priorities is student attendance. We know that regular attendance is essential to learning, and we ask for your continued partnership in ensuring your child is at school each day—ready to learn by our 7:40 a.m. start time.

It’s an exciting time to be part of the Ochoa community, and I am grateful for the opportunity to lead and partner with you in support of your student’s success. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions, ideas, or need support—we are here for you.

Warmly,
Brian Leavitt
Principal
